" Combining two different techniques to treat acne and the resultant scarring for effective results. "
How many times have we heard the cry "I’m 40, why am I still getting spots"?
A recent study showed that 85% of teenagers (ages12-24) and 20% of all adults suffer from active acne. What people don’t realize is that
there is a difference between the two. While most teenage acne is accompanied by oiliness this may not be the case with adult acne. This in
its self is a problem as most acne products are teenage orientated, often exasperating the adult acne condition. Understanding this difference
is key to treating the problem.
At Advanced Laser Light we offer a full skin analysis before treatment commences, determining what type of acne it is and what treatment
would be best suited to your individual needs.
The most common area is the face but chest, back and shoulders can also be affected. Facial acne is a source of woe for men and women alike,
with men being more prone to it due to the influence of androgens.
Acne is caused by an increased production of the hormone androgen, which stimulates the skin to produce more oil and an increase in
dead skin cell accumulation. This causes blocked pores, bacteria and inflammation, resulting in acne.
What Treatments are the available?
In order to control acne, we must impact on the four main contributing factors: overactive sebaceous glands, cell accumulation,
bacteria and inflammation. Two types of treatments are available, which can be done singularly or in conjunction with each other
for more effective results, depending on the severity of the acne, which will be assessed at consultation stage.
- Acne Laser Treatment
The heat from the applicator, heats the haemoglobin in the skin, this slows down the production of oil in the sebaceous glands and kills any bacteria in the skin.
The treatment dramatically slows down the over production of oil in the sebaceous glands that can lead to acne. It kills any bacteria in the skin, which can result in congestion and breakouts. It also repairs acne damaged skin and prevents further breakouts and scarring.
- Dermalogica MediBac Facial
Tailored made to treat each individual area of the face the Dermalogica treatment targets current blemishes and congestion while preventing further breakouts.
How long does an Acne treatment take?
A full-face treatment takes 20-40 minutes.1-5 treatments may be required leaving the correct time between the treatment, determined after each result.
Does it hurt?
Pain threshold varies from person to person, with clients generally experiencing a hot, sharp pinch for a fraction of a second.
What can I expect?
You may notice some general redness in the area following the treatment, which disappears relatively fast. Maintenance treatments can be
required should you suffer from future breakouts. Although results vary from person to person, a recent clinical study showed 85% of acne
lesions disappeared within a course of treatments.
Should I come for a consultation beforehand?
At Advanced Laser Light a consultation is necessary before any treatment to assess what exactly the clients needs are. In our consultation
we will have an in-depth look at the skin as well as looking at aspects of your lifestyle that could be contributing to your skin problem.
Having done all this we can recommend a treatment plan that is specific to your needs. If you are suitable for the treatment and time allows,
treatment can be carried out the same day.
